Saberes y Circuitos
Over 20 workshops in creative robotics, computing, and hardware with children and teenagers in Axochiapan, Morelos, over five weeks, built around local and ancestral knowledge. Más de 20 talleres de robótica, cómputo y hardware creativo con niños y adolescentes de tres pueblos del municipio de Axochiapan, Morelos, durante cinco semanas, construidos desde el saber local y ancestral.
Over five weeks in summer 2025, we ran more than 20 workshops in creative robotics, computing, and hardware with teenagers in Axochiapan, Morelos, working with the local Indigenous municipality. The programme was built along the way, together with students and cultural workers, and it put local and ancestral ways of knowing at the centre of the computing instead of treating them as an add-on.
The workshops introduced robotics and computational thinking through things that mattered locally, connecting technical skills to community needs and showing how computing can serve collective purposes.
Collective Milpa: Painting, Electronics and Binary Systems
One four-day workshop brought together cultural knowledge, visual arts, and electronics. Participants used the on and off states of an LED to understand binary, a first step toward a longer plan to build a collective computer that grows out of collective practice rather than apart from it.
Durante cinco semanas en el verano de 2025, hicimos más de 20 talleres de robótica, cómputo y hardware creativo con adolescentes en Axochiapan, Morelos, junto con el municipio indígena local. El programa se fue armando en el camino, con estudiantes y trabajadoras culturales, y puso el saber local y ancestral en el centro del cómputo, no como un agregado.
Los talleres introdujeron la robótica y el pensamiento computacional desde lo que importa localmente, conectando las habilidades técnicas con las necesidades de la comunidad y mostrando cómo el cómputo puede servir a fines colectivos.
Milpa Colectiva: Pintura, Electrónica y Sistemas Binarios
Un taller de cuatro días juntó saber cultural, artes visuales y electrónica. Las y los participantes usaron los estados de encendido y apagado de un LED para entender el binario, un primer paso hacia un plan más largo de construir una computadora colectiva que nazca de la práctica colectiva y no aparte de ella.
